Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The 4D Journal of Landscape Architecture and Garden Art publishes original, earlier unpublished papers classified into the following categories: original research paper, scientific review or critique of all sorts of landscape architecture projects and designed or planned creations. It publishes articles in the form of overviews and reports from scientific life and/or design and planning life of the profession in its broadest meaning. The papers should cover topics in the areas of landscape architecture, garden art, open space design, landscape protection and reclamation, landscape planning, regional development, urban planning, and urban design.

Papers may be written in English, with a detailed abstract given for Hungarian translations. Papers originally written in Hungarian have to have a full English translation.

The 4D Journal is issued four times a year.

The journal 4D Journal of Landscape Architecture and Garden Art (4D) takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Ethics and malpractice statements of the journal are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and pertain to all parties involved in the publishing: the peer reviewer, the editor, and the author. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. 4D takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors will proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy. We use several steps to verify originality of submissions against previous publication, including machine and real people checking.

Plagiarism, where someone assumes another's ideas, words, figures, plans or other creative expression as one's own, is a clear violation of scientific ethics. Plagiarism may also involve a violation of copyright law, punishable by legal action.

Plagiarism may constitute the following:

  • Word for word, or almost word for word copying, or purposely paraphrasing portions of another author's work without clearly indicating the source or marking the copied fragment (for example, using quotation marks);
  • Copying equations, figures or tables from someone else's paper without properly citing the source and/or without permission from the original author or the copyright holder.

Please note that all submissions are thoroughly checked for plagiarism.

Any paper which shows obvious signs of plagiarism will be automatically rejected.
